Rimma Malinskaya is Counsel in the Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (Russia) LLP Dispute Resolution Practice. Before joining the firm, Rimma worked for an international law firm and, for over four years, she headed legal department of a leading industrial holding company, providing the full range of legal services in representing clients’ interests before arbitration courts and courts of general jurisdiction both in Russia and elsewhere. Previously, Rimma worked as an Associate in the State Corporation for Atomic Energy. Rimma studied at the School of International Arbitration, Queen Mary, University of London.

Rimma was selected by peers as one of the best lawyers in Russia in the fields of arbitration and mediation, according to Best Lawyers in Russia 2018-2019 Editions.

Track Record

Rimma’s recent successful projects included:

  • Advising and representing OAO NOVATEK in a dispute with NEFTE PETROLEUM LIMITED in relation to their joint venture YARGEO, the Yarudeyskoye oil field operator in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area. The project involved our legal assistance to the client at the pre-trial dispute resolution stage and representation of NOVATEK before the first instance and appeal courts, which considered the claims for NEFTE PETROLEUM LIMITED to be excluded from YARGEO LLC. Our client's claims were satisfied in full, following which, during the appeal proceedings, the parties reached an amicable agreement.
  • Advised a group of major account holders in My Bank on ways to protect their interests during the Bank’s bankruptcy proceedings, when its debt to the account holders was repaid in full.
  • Providing legal support for an investment project in the agricultural sector, including acting in bankruptcy proceedings for a major creditor and providing contract support for establishing a new agricultural producer.
  • Acting successfully for a major mining company in a dispute with a municipal administrative authority preventing our client from developing a deposit. The non-regulatory legal act issued by the municipality administration was invalidated.
  • Participating in acting in the LCIA in a dispute over violations of warranties and indemnities under a sale and purchase agreement for shares in a major Russian insurance company.
  • Advising a client from Germany on an arbitration case relating to assignment of rights under an arbitration clause, including with respect to bankruptcy of the assignor company.
  • Advising a Russian company on recognition and enforcement of an international arbitration award issued in Germany.
  • Providing legal support to a big international food producer in a product supply-related dispute considered by the International Commercial Arbitration Court under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. The claim amounted to approximately USD 1 m.
  • Acting for a major international automotive sector company in the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation on disputes over claims for losses and penalties.
  • Acting for a Russian defendant company objecting to recognition and enforcement in Russia of a foreign commercial arbitration award issued against it. The outcome was an amicable settlement on terms acceptable to the client.
  • Developing and presenting a major income tax case (amount approx. USD 1.2 m in income tax) involving an industrial plant. The case took two years to be resolved and the judgment in favour of the plant was finally upheld by the Supreme Commercial Court of the Russian Federation.
  • Actively participating in negotiation of and comprehensive legal support for metal rolling equipment imports (transaction worth EUR 12 m).
