The acute phase of the financial crisis has now passed but repercussions of the deep slump in almost all economic sectors remain and will, by all appearances, be overcome only slowly. In the new situation, the state’s economic strategy needs to change its priorities. Extraordinary measures, such as financial injections into banks and big corporations, have exhausted their usefulness. It is time the protectionist policy were abandoned too. Long-term measures now top the agenda. Restoring investor confidence comes first. Most urgent is revival of a favourable investment climate.
